  Every year, hospital facilities spend an estimated $26.8 billion dollars treating hospital acquired pressure injuries (HAPIs) and their related complications. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid consider HAPIs to be "never events" and in 2008 eliminated reimbursement for costs associated with them. According to the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, HAPIs have continued to increase, therefore, adding additional expenses to healthcare systems.

This pad is intended for use in conjunction with arm guards shields (toboggans). Designed to prevent patient's arm or leg from extending over the side of the table and to prevent leaning on or against the patient's extremity. The shield is only sold with the set. Choose from a small and large version of the pads.

40130 16 1/4" x 8 1/4" x 3/8" (41.3 x 21 x .95 cm)

This pad is intended for use in conjunction with Armguard or Arm Guards shields (toboggans). Designed to prevent patient's arm or leg from extending over the side of the table and to prevent leaning on or against the patient's extremity. Placement of the pad between patient and shield provides protection from direct contact with shield reducing risk of danger from shear or pressure. Shield is not included.

This two-piece set includes the Toboggan Armguard Shield and the 40130 Action® pad. Designed to prevent the patient's arm or leg from extending over the side of the table and to prevent leaning on or against the patient's extremity. Dr. Heather D. Kooiker, DNP, MSN, RN, CNL, CNOR, CRNFA, is a Board-Certified Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) who also holds Certifications in Perioperative Registered Nursing (CNOR), along with a Registered Nurse First Assistant Certification (CRNFA). Heather serves Baxter International as the Director of Global Medical Affairs for Patient Support Systems and Global Surgical Solutions. She is also a Professor of Nursing at Davenport University where she integrates Evidence Based Practice (EBP) and Research into the classroom, preparing the next generation of nurses.
